please read on.."The Individuality within Manga Art"
People have found it interesting how different artists depicted the same person. Akemi was drawn by several artists in different ways. Akemi is celebrating her 50 years of life this year and has a lot of pictures taken by photographers from the USA, UK and Japan. Therefore it was suggested that 50 works of Manga images of Akemi (either drawn from life or based on photographs) will be displayed at this exhibition. This will give an interesting "50:100:150 year perspective" inspired by Akemi's 50 years, the Anglo-Japanese Association's 100th year anniversary, and the 150 year celebration of relations between the UK and Japan. Therefore, manga and anime artworks of Akemi will be displayed FREE OF CHARGE.

St John's Wood Library

The works that will be displayed in these different libraries are chosen from the August exhibition.
There will be no entrance charge for the artists. While the artists' works are on display in these
two libraries, some Japanese cultural workshops (dancing, Manga drawing, etc) will be held at the venue.
These libraries are a popular place for local school students to come for school trips. We shall introduce these Japanese-orientated workshops and art pieces to schools and art colleges. St John's Wood Library will re-open on the 4th August from refurbishment. This exhibition will coincide with the re-opening. |
Akemi shall attend AmeCon and AlCon, as she has done in previous years, as a lecturer of Japanese
culture. Amecon
The Anglo-Japanese Association in Tokyo will celebrate their 100 year aniversary this autumn.
There is a chance that some art works from these exhibitions in England will be exhibited in Japan.
We are delighted to have artwork from Juan-Carlos Cambon, Sonia Leong, Jodie Azhar, Mark Jones, Declan Talbert, Marubelle Sinclaire ...
The exhibition hosted two cosplay events on Saturday 16th
August, organised in conjunction
with The Grand Cosplay
Ball.
There was a Photoshoot with Pat Lyttle from 2pm. This was a free event and included
a make-up artist to make sure everyone got some great shots. There was also a charity raffle for Bliss (see below).
Ball tickets cost £7.50 including tea and a cake. They are available to
buy from The Grand Cosplay Ball
website. All profits will be donated to
Bliss, the premature babies
charity. There are only 30 places available so don't miss out!
If you have any
questions about the The Grand Cosplay Ball please email

If somebody needs accommodation near this exhibition, University of the Arts London can provide the
