A wealth of talent and creativity lies behind the people involved in the event. The Japanese Art Festival is proud to be associated with the many artists, people and organisations that are involved.
Akemi Solloway is the main organiser of the Japanese Art Festival and is also a lecturer of Japanese culture and daughter of an old samurai family.

The Anglo-Japanese Anime, Manga and Culture Association was created following discussions about Japanese culture in Anime and Manga during talks given by Helen McCarthy and Akemi Solloway at Fuyucon in Nottingham in October 2007.
Founder-member Ian Rudd has a wide interest in Anime, Manga, Comics, Popular Culture and Music. He is currently learning Japanese. He has visited Japan four times, having just returned from a trip there at the end of 2008 and is already planning his next trip there.
The Japanese Art Festival is also associated with Japan-UK 150, celebrating 150 years of friendship between Japan and the UK.
Japan-UK 150 features a series of events in the UK organised to celebrate 150 years of friendship between our two countries, will run from autumn 2008 until the end of 2009. It will feature a wide range of activities designed to encourage exchange in such fields as culture, the arts, sport, education and science.
The Nottingham Anime and Manga Society is Nottingham's largest and oldest running society dedicated to all things Japanese and anime related. Based just outside the centre of Nottingham they hold weekly anime showings. NAMsoc also organise social events, special showings, trips and conventions, plus talks and presentations from some of the UK's leading authorities on anime.
J-Pop Go is a semi-regular music event that brings a variety of Japanese pop music to various clubs and events in the UK. Featuring a range of DJs, J-Pop Go has provided music for club nights, launch parties and more recently assisted with the Grand Cosplay Ball event in London.
Established for over 20 years, MSMAS is a non-profit permanent dojo located just outside Haywards Heath in Sussex. The school focuses on some of the traditional martial arts of Japan including Judo, traditional Aikido, Iaido and Kendo.

Sonia Leong will have a range of her original artwork prints, manga and books available over the course of the Festival weekend.
The Japanese Art Festival is also proud to feature artwork from the likes of Philip English, Sonia Leong, Declan Talbert, Jodie Azhar, Juan-Carlos Cambon, Celine Choo, Mark Gardner, and the talented artists of Umisen Yamasen.
