We have now added a timetable of events to the Festival website.
The Festival has added some new activities to the schedule:
Have you ever wanted to try on a Kimono? Kaori is here to help you and to demonstrate the correct way to wear this traditional Japanese dress. Details on the Events page.
Koichi Murai will demonstrate the art of calligraphy in a special craft workshop on Sunday. Details on the Events page.
Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, we have had to cancel two events. Both the J-Pop Party and the Game Show will no longer be taking place this weekend. Apologies to all those who were looking forward to the events, but they will be back for future Festivals.
Please read the Events page carefully as we have added and amended many details on event listings.
There are some tube works in progress on the Festival weekend some of which affect the District line. Although most of the line will be OK for travel, please note the following:
On both Saturday and Sunday the District line is suspended westbound from Barking to Whitechapel, suspended eastbound from Whitechapel to Upney and suspended between Ealing Common and Ealing Broadway. Rail replacement buses operate.
TFL advise that journey times may be increased by up to 45 minutes. More details: www.tfl.gov.uk
The timetable for events is still being finalised and we'll post more details on which events are happening on each day in due course. In the meantime, here are the times the Festival will be open to the public:
Saturday 11th July: 11am - 6pm
Sunday 12th July: 10am - 5pm
Please note that times and events may be subject to change.

The Japanese Art Festival is proud to announce that the event will be hosting the UK premiere of the Studio Ghibli anime Ocean Waves.

Studio Ghibli is better known as the Oscar-winning animation studio who brought us Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.
Never before released in the UK, Ocean Waves centres around the life of Taku, an average high school student. But soon his quiet life will be turned upside down with the arrival of Rikako: a beautiful exchange student from Tokyo. By the end of term Taku will have learnt a valuable lesson in love and friendship.
